Michelle Walker to offer two new art classes at UVJVS
The UVJVS Adult Division is collaborating with area artist Michelle Walker to offer two art classes: Learn to Draw with Confidence Class and Still Life in Oils.
In Learn to Draw with Confidence, students will explore shapes, shading, portraits, and perspective pencil drawing. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned artist that wants to hone their skills, this class will help build confidence in your drawing technique.
In the Still Life in Oils class, students will explore what makes an interesting still life and will learn how to use objects in from the home in dynamic still life paintings. The course will also explore composition, lighting and application of paints.
When Walker is not working on commissioned art, she travels throughout Ohio with the Ohio Plein Air Society. She also enjoys traveling to Europe and Japan with other artists. She says, “My work has evolved to explore the relationship between color and light in the environment around me. I am known for my ability to capture unique and vibrant color in a fresh and painterly manner. I have learned so many things from painting such as becoming more aware of the world and people around me and seeing something beautiful that is otherwise mundane. Art is more than just a pretty picture on the wall; it is also about the people you meet and the friendships you make.”
Living in a small town, Walker is drawn to the wonderful vistas and gentle rolling hills of Ohio. Her greatest challenge is to find the perfect composition in a panoramic view of nature. Walker’s education in Interior Design and Engineering has influenced the way she sees life around her. Both have given her an enriched view of spatial design and color. She has received numerous First place Art Show awards in oils, along with awards in watercolors. See www.walkerartgallery.com for more information about her recent work.
Annette Paulus Adult Division coordinator said, “Students will enjoy this class whether it is just for fun or if you want to learn professional techniques from this experienced artist.” The Learn to Draw with Confidence Class will operate on six Tuesday evenings July 19 to August 30 from 6pm to 8pm. Tuition is $60. Still Life in Oils Class will operate on six Wednesday mornings July 20 to August 31 from 10am to 1pm. Tuition $80.
