JVS Seniors Honored at 35th Convocation
Upper Valley JVS’s 352 seniors made their final appearance at the school's 35th annual Convocation on Thursday, May 27, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. at the Hobart Arena, Troy. The seniors, representing 14 associate schools and several open-enrollment schools and from 30 different career technical programs, each received a Certificate of Career Technical Achievement with Honors, a Certificate of Career Technical Achievement, a Career Technical Certificate, or a Record of Participation.
Georgia Ike, a Teacher Academy major from Houston, led the Pledge of Allegiance. She also welcomed everyone to Convocation and introduced special guests.
Doug Trostle, JVS Board of Education President from the Troy Board of Education offered the graduates his congratulations and best wishes.
Director Michael Shellabarger presided at the Convocation. Assisting him were Superintendent Dr. Nancy Luce; Principal Joe Davis; and Supervisors Carol Baer, Eric Bowser, Gene Cordonnier, Deb Holthaus, Stephanie Johnson, Terry Krogman, Rob O’Leary, Bill Overla and Randy Smith.
High School faculty members presented seniors with their Certificates.
The top JVS students are Georgia Ike who earned a 4.0 grade point average and Jessica Hopkins with a 3.79.
Ike, daughter of Doug and Tina Ike of Sidney, is enrolled in the Teacher Academy program. She plans to attend Bowling Green State University after graduation to obtain a degree as a high school science teacher.
Hopkins is the daughter of Charles and Bonita Hopkins of Troy. She is a Medical Technologies student who plans to attend Hocking Community College to study business management.
