SkillsUSA Winners Advance
The Upper Valley JVS Chapter of SkillsUSA showcased members job and leadership skills at the local Skill competitions. This event was held at the JVS and enabled students to compete in a variety of areas for an opportunity to advance to the region level. At the awards ceremony on February 9, first, second and third-place winners were presented a medallion for their top finish. Top finishers in each contest are eligible to compete at the region level at one of the four locations; Sinclair Community College, Dayton; Scarlet Oaks Career Campus, Cincinnati; Hobart Institute of Welding, Troy; and Voss Collision Centre, Centerville, throughout the month. The top three students at region will advance to state competition in Columbus, at the State Fairgrounds on April 29 and 30.
Local businesses support this competition by contributing equipment and supplies as well as by donating the time of their employees to help manage and judge the contests.

SkillsUSA is the national organization for trade, industrial, technical and health occupations students in public high schools and junior and community colleges. It is a non-profit educational association with 300,000 members organized into 12,500 local chapters in 53 state and territorial associations. Nearly 4 million students have participated in SkillsUSA programs since its founding in 1965.
The members of this organization develop leadership abilities through participation in educational, vocational, civic, recreational and social activities. This organization promotes high standards in trade ethics, workmanship, scholarship and safety. SkillsUSA is the largest career-technical student organization at the JVS.
